We cordially invite you to attend the 2023 VDAEPC Spring Academy – the meeting of the Association of German Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (VDAEPC) in cooperation with the Indian Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, the Aesthetic Society, IMCAS and DGAEPC.
In the current environment, practicing Aesthetic Surgery remains complex. Patient expectations, available treatments and media influences present increasingly demanding challenges. Patients often dream of a one-stitch-lunch-lift, or antioxidants rather than to commit the classic facelift procedure. But we, as Aesthetic Surgeons, have always been amenable to adapt and to grow.
Our two-day symposium will highlight the latest evolutions and techniques and will focus on the question of Aesthetic Surgery combined with Aesthetic Medicine: Before or After?
After its great success in 2022, the meeting will once again take place at the world-famous Adlon Hotel Kempinski located next to the Brandenburg Gate. Join us in Berlin, meet with peers and friends from around the world, and learn about different perspectives of modern-day Aesthetic Surgery.

Höhler Award Ceremony
Few discoveries have had such a lasting impact on Plastic Surgery as the SMAS.
At this year’s Spring Academy VDAEPC honors with the Höhler-Award the surgeon who described the SMAS and made it clinically useful: Vladimir Mitz.
As Edgar Biemer will be his laudator, we do look forward to be taken on an exciting journey through time with these two geniuses of Plastic Surgery.

How Challenges of Being a Plastic Surgeon in Different Career Paths Are Different for Women
In 1978 there were about a hundred practicing women plastic surgeons in the world. Things have changed a lot since then. However, even if women make up about 50 percent of the active physician workforce in Germany, they remain a minority in plastic surgery. Women constitute just 10 percent of membership in the VDAEPC. In our panel, women plastic surgeons who have become very successful in their respective career paths, will address the challenges women still face in plastic surgery. Let’s change that!
